Save with Toshiba 131.990$ when you purchase Lap top Toshiba A665D

I can only describe my experience with the Toshiba Satellite A665 as a complete nightmare.
The first task you are faced with when you power up the laptop for the first time is creating system backup discs - these weren't included in the box. Okay, no problem until Toshiba's own bloatware method for making these discs fails 4 or 5 times before finally succeeding. This is the moment that I should have put the computer back in the box and sent it back to Amazon.
Since then the computer's performance has been pathetically unreliable. Regular freezes (particularly when the machine goes into sleep mode), crashes and random unexpected shutdowns accompanied by the dreaded blue screen of death, and a growing sense that I have wasted my money. In short, it doesn't really work. The last straw came this week when I was demonstrating something during a meeting at work and got a random blue screen of death shutdown - well, I guess nobody in the room will be buying a Toshiba anytime soon.
So far, customer service with Toshiba has been appalling - the usual long waiting period to speak to someone who shows no evidence of knowing anything more than you about the product and, indeed, no interest in helping any in case.
The reason I am so frustrated with this laptop is that I checked reviews of the product before buying it. Simple Google searches of all the major laptop producers will show that there are cases of people being unhappy with all of them: it seems that it may be bad luck as much as anything when you spend a lot of money only to find out the product is only barely useable. Immediately before Christmas, when I actually purchased the laptop, there were plenty of positive reviews here on Amazon and this is a major reason that I plumped for this product.
Still, whatever the realities, I will never be purchasing another Toshiba product. 0/10

I had also had same issue in the past. Frequent freeze and blue screen. I had to replace hard driver with new one two times. Eventually my first toshiba laptop ended up with being thrown away out of window. After that bad experience I never gave any glance to toshiba laptop.

Hard Drive problems within 6 mos. Turns out my experience is hardly unique (see other reviews, cnet, etc). Waste of money but luckily saved my data files. Needless to say, will not be buying Toshiba again.
